Where the Dentist is the Receptionist...

After enduring a few aches of the same tooth I finally stopped being lazy and found a dentist that works with my dental provider. I’ve always had this major dislike for dentists since I was a kid because everytime I go I get bad news. So of course after going to see the doc this time… I get bad news… I most likely need a root canal on a tooth for which he recommended for me to see a root canal specialist. The other downside… the nearest specialist for my provider is in Richmond…

Well the AAA man said to take a ride...

So those who know me know I have a love/hate relationship with my car, Eva. Every since we have started dating (April 2010) we have had plenty of ups and downs which has often left me transportation-less. We gone to many different relationship counselors in various cities… Cincinnati, DC, Raleigh, Charlottesville, Greensboro… but every time an issue gets solved, a month or two later here comes another.

They say distance makes the heart grow fonder and its true. Eva and I were separated for 43 days following an incident that happened roughly 70 days ago in mid July. She remained in DC getting pampered and awaiting new parts as I went off to school in Charlottesville to start our new life in a new city… well ville… So after pimping out a rental for 43 days it was all set for me to return to Eva. I pick her up on a Tuesday and everything is great (love)… until Friday, when she quits on me again (hate).

This is where the AAA man comes in… AAA man comes to save the day, does his inspections and confirms that Eva needs a new battery and a new one soon. He jumps the car and says “you might want to take a ride for 10-15 minutes” to charge up the battery, so off we went…

Minesweeper Expert

So if you aren’t familiar with it already, there is this game called Minesweeper that comes with every windows (not sure about Mac) computer. I downloaded the game on my iPod not too long to help pass time on bus trips back and forth to campus. The game has three levels, beginner, intermediate and expert. The beginner and intermediate levels aren’t too challenging for me since I’ve played before but the expert always gets me because you have to uncover 99 mines. Well after 32 tries on my iPod version I finally beat the expert level… hence the title of this post.

I’m now into week 3 of grad school and I feel like its been longer, which is a good thing. I was worried originally how transitioning back into school would go after being out for nearly 8 months. Now I feel like I never left. But it also helps that I only have classes two days a week. I guess grad school life is where its at…

Welcome to 23!

This past Sunday I celebrated the conclusion of 23 years of life and needless to say it feels no different. I liked being 22 merely for the fact it was 22. I guess the next milestone is 25 (not rushing at all) but at least I should be done with my master’s before I turn 25 (class of 2013 on deck). This weekend of celebration was epic. Without getting into too much detail lets just say I met at least two people who probably don’t remember meeting me at all, and was a part of the team who got them safely home (or out of harm’s way) on Friday. On Saturday we made up for it but the hurricane scared most people away from coming outdoors. And on Sunday it was pretty chill, but filled with plenty of phone calls, text messages, tweets and facebook posts (thanks again to all those who sent me birthday wishes). If it weren’t for family, friends, and random people who I don’t know, this birthday would not have been the same. I appreciate you all!

ps… I’m behind on blogging but now that I have my schedule down I should be good with picking it back up.
